The origin of our name is the fulani word Bowé (plural of Bowal):
(1) It refers to soil so rich in iron that it makes agriculture impossible, nature's own reminder that mineral riches make it hard for other sectors to prosper.
(2) From its Guinean origins the word is now used in agronomy in both French and English - Guinea's mining sector also holds lessons for the rest of the world.
Bernabé Sánchez is the Economics Director, with a decade as an economist in the British civil service and 14 years in the mining sector (LinkedIn profile here).
